A kg of salmon milt can yield 50 grams of high-molecular DNA, a substance that can in turn be used to make electroluminescent materials, strong films and materials for trapping dioxin. Nichiro will invest 30 million yen in fiscal year 2004 to set up a lab with a target output of 100 to 200 grams of high.
Investigation was made under the joint efforts of Central Research Laboratory of Maruha Nichiro Holdings, Inc., Bio-Product Business Dept., Nichiro Corporation, and some universities for the effect of rubbing the DNA-Na from salmon milt on human skin condition. A 3% DNA-Na cream or the control cream was rubbed onto the male subjects (ten/group) for 12 weeks. The result showed that the DNA cream improved skin-elasticity more than the controled cream after the fourth week. The change in skin-elasticity was improved significantly. Rubbing of the DNA cream tended to decrease transepithelial water loss (TEWL) and to increase water content in the face skin at 12 weeks. In addition, according to the results of a questionaire, more than 90 percent of the subjects who used the DNA cream felt improving roughness of the skin. In conclusion, these results showed that their skin conditions were improved by rubbing on the DNA-Na. Articles sourced from Maruha Nichiro Foods, Inc. |

What is EM (Effective Microorganism)EM is an abbreviation of Effective Microorganisms, which refers to the beneficial microorganisms complex that have long served mankind for foods and clothes, including photosynthesis bacteria, lactobacillus, yeast fungus, etc. Beneficial microorganisms in EM come to produce powerful anti-oxidants through mutual metabolisms. These natural anti-oxidants constitute the very feature of EM. EM is a safe and eco-friendly material that is generated from a crude liquid called EM-1 and is applicable to all fields such as environment, life, and health care through various methods. Effective Microorganisms ? By now EM is produced in over 54 countries (including Korea) and consists of naturally-occurring beneficial microorganisms. These microorganisms can easily be classified into three major groups: lactic acid bacteria (commonly found in dairy products), yeast (e.g. bread, beer), and phototrophic bacteria. The use of Effective Microorganisms Technology has broadened in the last two decades from agriculture to water treatment, odour control, animal husbandry, human health, and numerous other industrial treatments. Research has shown that the inoculation of EM cultures to the soil/plant ecosystem can improve soil quality, soil health, and the growth, yield, and quality of crops. Also when used in animal systems similar benefits have been shown. These microorganisms have a reviving action on growing systems and are completely safe to use. A number of these microorganisms have long been familiar to the medical sector and the foods industry and are extremely useful for people, animals, plants, the soil and water. Naturally, EM Effective Microorganisms are not genetically engineered. Over the years, the completely harmless and safe nature of EM has been confirmed during a range of research both in Japan and other countries. In general there are three types of microorganisms:
EM (Effective Microorganisms) belong to the regenerative category. They can prevent decomposition in any type of substance and thus maintain the health of both living organisms and the environment. Degenerative microorganisms behave in a manner that is diametrically opposite to that of the regenerative group. Types of microorganisms : What are antioxidants? Why Antioxidants? Make sure your skin is well moisturized, and use very little powder. “If your skin looks dry or powdery, you’ll look older,” says Parent. “Moisturized skin has a plumper, younger, fresher appearance.” If you have very oily skin, lightly dust powder on your T-zone.* Conceal well, but choose a brand with light coverage. “Heavy concealer that looks caked on will be very obvious on film, and if you can see the makeup, then you’re only drawing attention to whatever you wanted to hide,” says Parent. Just use concealer on red spots and dark undereye circles or to blend out any uneven spots. As always, stick to a concealer that’s only one tone lighter than your skin tone to avoid raccoon eyes. * Avoid anything frosty or shiny. “These colors reflect on film, causing bright spots. They also tend to settle into any fine lines, making you look older,” says Parent. * Black mascara is a must. “Always use black mascara for pictures. It really makes the eyes ‘pop,’ as we say.” Curling your lashes first will make them seem even wider. * Go natural. “Natural colors are best for lipstick and eye shadow,” says Parent. “They draw attention to your features.” Brown shadow best accentuates most eyes, and lipsticks with blue undertones (think berry colors) make teeth look whiter. Here is another top 10 skin tips |
